AnakTV Symposium Successfully Starts Its First Leg in Luzon
Quezon City, Philippines – July 19, 2025 – The annual AnakTV Symposium officially kicked off its 2025 series with a successful first leg at Commonwealth High School, Quezon City, drawing hundreds of students, teachers, and parents. The symposium continues AnakTV’s long-standing advocacy for television literacy and child-sensitive, family-friendly television in the Philippines.

As an organization composed of all major television networks in the country, AnakTV stages annual symposia and consultative meetings in schools from the private and public sectors. Its advocacy targets parents, teachers, and students who are confronted with overwhelming communication technology and constant exposure to entertainment television.
Championing Responsible Media Consumption
The first Luzon leg featured a keynote session by Mr. Kane Errol Choa, Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications of ABS-CBN Corporation, who discussed “Reducing Toxicity in the World of Social Media.” His talk urged attendees to adopt kindness and responsibility in navigating the digital space.
Adding vibrance to the event were AnakTV Ambassadors from Sparkle GMA Artist Center, Allen Ansay and Sophia Pablo, who entertained the audience with lively performances. Allen Ansay also serenaded hundreds of attendees, bringing smiles and excitement to the symposium.
Empowering Parents and Youth Through Media Literacy
To strengthen its advocacy, AnakTV gathered votes from parents, teachers, and students to help determine future recipients of the AnakTV Seal Awards—a recognition given to television programs deemed suitable for children. It also pays tribute to television personalities who, through their thoughtful and responsible behavior in public, have become inspiring role models for the younger generation, worthy to be called Makabata Stars.
At the same time, children participated in the AnakTV Larolympics, which revives traditional Filipino games such as patintero, piko, and tumbang preso. The Larolympics aims to encourage physical activity, teamwork, and appreciation of Filipino culture while promoting responsible media habits. Winners were proudly recognized during the event.
Looking Ahead to SineBata 2026
In her closing message, AnakTV President Ms. Elvira Yap Go expressed her gratitude to Commonwealth High School for hosting the first leg of the symposium and announced that selected students and teachers may represent the Philippines in the upcoming SineBata 2026, a regional children’s video festival.
With its successful Luzon kickoff, AnakTV looks forward to bringing its advocacy to more schools nationwide, continuously empowering children, parents, and educators to become discerning and responsible media consumers.
