A MEMORIAL RECOGNITION FOR MIKE ENRIQUEZ

Anak TV paid tribute to media icon Mike Enriquez for his invaluable role in making Anak TV fulfill its mission for the children.

At the Anak TV Awards, where a Memorial Recognition for Mike Enriquez was held, Anak TV expressed its gratitude to the veteran broadcaster who embraced the cause of Anak TV with dedication, dignity and commitment.

Ms. Elvira Go, president of Anak TV, recalled that Mike Enriquez was one of the first TV personalities who were enshrined at the Makabata Star Hall of Fame. It was an award she said Mike Enriquez cherished because it came from thousands of parents who looked up to him as a role model for their children, helping mold the minds and hearts of children and the youth.

Bob Del Rosario, former president of Anak TV, remembered him up close when he obliged to speak on various occasions to children and their parents to discuss media literacy.

Edith del Rosario, Anak TV board trustee, and Angel Javier-Cruz, secretary and treasurer of Anak TV, talked of Mr. Enriquez’ passion to serve the interest of children, both as a broadcaster and as a civic leader, making him truly a Makabata Star.

Kane Choa, vice-president of Anak TV, said that he was not only an icon in Philippine broadcasting but was also an invaluable resource person and partner of Anak TV. He said that he espoused the media literacy program of Anak TV, and helped inform parents about the importance of media and how to decipher media messages as well.

The award was received by Glenn Allona, the first vice-president for radio operations of GMA, home studio of the late Mr. Enriquez.

When asked what made the relationship between Anak TV and Mr. Enriquez work so well, Ms. Go said that it was because “Anak TV and Mike Eriquez were one heart and one soul for the Filipino children.”
