By spotlighting media literacy as a life skill, Anak TV x Be Juan Tama Talks stands out as more than just a campaign, but a movement. In an age where viral misinformation spreads faster than truth, the program reminds students that discernment is as essential as reading and writing.

The vibrant halls of Studio 7 at the GMA Network Center came alive as students from PUP Manila, Holy Trinity University Palawan, Manila Central University, Dr. Carlos S. Lanting College, and Angelicum College gathered for a morning of learning, mythbusting, and inspiration.

With the theme, “Mythbusting: To Believe or Not To Believe, the Challenges of Information Sharing”, the event was more than a talk—it was a call to action for the youth to sharpen their critical thinking in the digital age.

Ms. Elvira Yap Go, Anak TV President and Founding Chairperson of the Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children, set the tone with her passionate advocacy. She spoke about Anak TV’s journey into new media platforms, ensuring that content for Filipino children remains relevant, useful, and safe. Through the Sinebata Workshop, she explained how kids are empowered to tell stories that spark curiosity and inspire learning about the world around them.

Chris Tiu, TV personality and host of I-Bilib, brought a mix of professional insight and personal reflection. I-Bilib is a beloved educational program that blends science experiments, trivia, and fun demonstrations to make learning exciting. As a father, Chris shared his experiences teaching children to discern information online, knowing what to trust, what to share, and how to question responsibly. He also presented I-Bilib segments, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at how engaging content is created for Filipino youth.

In an age where viral misinformation spreads faster than truth, Anak TV x Be Juan Tama Talks stands out as more than just a campaign, but a movement. By spotlighting media literacy as a life skill, the program reminds students that discernment is as essential as reading and writing.

The initiative empowers young audiences to question myths, challenge half-truths, and embrace responsible sharing. In doing so, Anak TV and its partners are not only teaching fact-checking, but also cultivating a mindset that values truth, nurtures creativity, and strengthens critical thinking.

This resonates deeply because it addresses the everyday reality of students who consume information in real time through social media feeds, group chats, and digital platforms. By equipping them with the tools to filter noise from knowledge, the program helps shape a generation that is not easily swayed by disinformation campaigns, but instead becomes active guardians of responsible communication.

Ultimately, Anak TV x Be Juan Tama Talks is not just about protecting the integrity of information today. It is about laying the foundation for a future where young Filipinos grow into leaders, storytellers, and citizens who understand that truth is not optional, but the bedrock of democracy and community.

The event ended with applause, but more importantly, with a renewed commitment among the youth: to be vigilant, curious, and responsible in navigating the digital world. | mbmf
