MALAYSIA TO HOST THE 2024 SEAVFC

Malaysia is ready to roll out the red carpet for the participants of the 2024 Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children (SEAVFC) in Kuala Lumpur.

This is good news to TV producers, TV executives, media practitioners, child-focused groups and school children who missed the event in the last three years because of the pandemic.

It will be recalled that it was in 2019 when Cambodia’s Chhay Borra passed the baton of leadership to Dato Mohd Mahydin Bin Mohd Mustakim of Malaysia, at the concluding rites of the 3rd Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children in the capital city of Phnom Penh.

The SEAVFC was conceived by Anak TV president Elvira Yap Go, as an annual international video festival, but the global pandemic brought the festival to a hiatus.

SEAVFC brings together video enthusiasts, professionals in the TV industry, aspiring video makers, and children, from the 10 ASEAN member states for an exciting three days of  activities that include screenings of  best video works for children, discussions about the merits of the programs of finalists in the festival,  insightful talks on the state of children’s television from media luminaries from the US, Japan and Southeast Asia, and the children’s workshop facilitated by creative video directors and motivators.

The festival provides a platform for children to showcase their skills in creating content, sharing their perspectives and engaging in cultural exchange. It continues to inspire and promote the artistic and cultural growth of children and the youth.

The Philippines’ Anak TV successfully hosted the first and second Southeast Asia Video Festivals in Manila.

Cambodia hosted its third festival, as SEAVCF started its rotational hosting of the international event.

Positive responses from potential partners keep up the spirit of the team of Dato Mohd Mahyidin Bin Mohd Mustakim, as Malaysia prepares as host of the 4th SEAVFC.

The upcoming festival aims to foster unity and collaboration to encourage the children and the youth of the region to express their thoughts and ideals through their video works that speak of pride for culture, strong family ties, and values among the peoples of Southeast Asia.
